Soprano sax

Hi all I am a tenor saxophone player and would like to play soprano now just for a change and to play songs solo. Is there a big difference in the way of playing these 2 instruments Eg blowing techniques, ? Would really appreciate any advice offered

    Re: Soprano sax

I wouldn't say technique is so different, but, of course, the mouthpiece is much smaller, so your mouth will have quite an adjustment. Soprano will take more control, however. It seems that the smaller horn has more intonation problems. The first time I ever tried to play one, I thought it was a bad horn (a Keilworth in a music store). The first time I played the one I now own, it was similar, but after a week or so, my lip learned what to do, and I am able to play the soprano in tune.
