"Monique" Alto sax?

So there's this kid in my school band who has a copper Monique alto sax and a Meyer something-or-other mouthpiece. He said he'd sell it to me for $150 at the end of the year. I know the mouthpiece is worth over $100 itself, but has anybody heard of this brand, Monique, before? I know it's obviously a good price but I don't know if I should shell out the money for a bad horn.

Why are you posting the same thing twice?

Because I didn't realize I was in this forum when I posted, and instead of deleting it I just went over to the General one and posted there.

There are good Monique horns and there are some lemons. If it says PRO SERIES Designed by French Technicians, this should be a pretty decent horn, especially if it was purchased new in the past few years. These horns were made in Taiwan and have even response, intonation, and a pretty sweet tone. If it just says Monique on the bell, you really should play the horn and decide for yourself.
