Altissimo G

Hi. I'm a grade 12 student and have been playing the sax since grade 6. I have a Jupiter 989 and am playing on a Lakey 7*3.. In the past year or so I have been working on altissimos, but i am yet to find an altissimo G that works very well. I am using a B with the F# key, but it is not giving me a very stable note. Can someone please show me some other fingerings for an altissimo G? -Matt

1,3,4,6 w/side Bb works well for me on alto. ~Firk

    Re: Altissimo G

You mean on alto or tenor? For alto, you can get a pretty altissimo G with the Improved G key, your first finger on the lower stack and side Bb. You can also use 1*3/1*3, and that's really easy to use, but it's LOUD, so don't use it classically. On tenor, the Improved G is generally the way to go, maybe with side Bb if you have trouble controlling it.
