Is the Yamaha YBS-61 Eb Bari s

Is it a good horn?

    Yes. This is the model before the present YBS-62, the 61 is probably pre 1977.

      my school has two and they play just as well as the ybs 62 and our yani 880 baris....good horns if you can find em.

        Yamaha had a "factory recall" on the YBS-61 after their introduction to answer upper octave intonation complaints from buyers. A template was sent to Yamaha dealers to enable them to relocate the octave pips. Be sure that any horn you buy has had this critical correction done. It's easy to spot: there will be a patch where the old pips were removed.

          thats interesting, i'm going to go check my school's ybs 61's tomorrow and see if they have that correction. man steve, you know some cool little facts about horns!

        Cuber, the only one I've ever heard mention the octave key on the 61 bari is Goodson?? I did a search on the net and all I got was Goodson on this site. It may or not be true???

        Steve sent me a template, i don't know if it really come from Yamaha, but i might try the modification, i'll let you know... Steve sent it to me the same day i got in touch with him,... for free...very cool... thanks
