    Re: Tenor Mouthpiece

well it depends. On alto people usually try to stay away from metal pieces b/c they usual sound bad on alto. Sonny stitt is an exception. For alto, under 100$ hard rubber Meyers are good, also rubber otto links are good for jazz. For tenor, it depends, metal otto links and rubber otto links are good. Morgan mouthpieces are good. the most economic ones are the links i think. the BARI hard rubber pieces can sound good with some work.overall the best moutpieces are gonna cost you, but you can sound like coltrane or rollins on a stock link.

On my mark VI tenor i use a Hard rubber 9* at about .116 Morgan vintage piece. on my Yani I have a Metal florida link at .108. It depends on what feels good and then whether you like the sound you get. I personally like and a lot of tenor players i know and listen to like bigger tip openings 7* or bigger.

Under 100.00, Brilhart, special, hard rubber. #5. Great mp w/ Rovner lite lig. I think you should spend a little more and get a Brilhart metal and soprano lig try that setup . stevo
