    yamahas are bitches to find out the year, since yamaha dosent publish serial #'s. try contacting a yamaha rep. the 4c is ok for a beginner, in a little bit you are going to want a little better mouthpeice. yamaha is probably making their student line in taiwan, but yours should be made in japan.
