Looking to buy a better Alto

I am looking to buy a better alto sax. I have been playing for about 12 years, and want something that i can move forward with other than the beginner sax I have been playing. I don't mind going vintage, in fact i have a SML Tenor that I love. I know there are a million different opinions, but what would be the best value for my money? This would include Maker, model, cost. I would really like either a selmer, but i am looking at a Silver plated Conn Chu Berry. Any help would be cool.
