whispering low

although I know my technic is decisive maybe some has a golden tip for a mouthpiece to enable me "easier" to get a nice whispering Ben Webster sound in the low register when I am playing balads on my Mark VI. My best fit now is an Otto Link New "Super" Tonemaster 8. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Re: whispering low

hi swiss horn, Don Menza talks all about Ben Webster's subtone in a video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Oc0VzGBPxY Menza plays an old Link, and I have a Super Tone Master too too that whispers very easily. Getting the right reed (size, brand, not warped, etc) is almost as important as the mpc, but of course, so are all of the other tips and tricks about technique he talks about. Good luck!

Thanks a lot Ray, for the Don Menza link: I'll study it a few more times! Do you know more of these instructive things on youtube? Any suggestions on reeds as well? Maarten
