strange noise on 2nd octave

Hi, i am new to playing an alto saxophone. When i play note son the 1st octave everythign sounds ok (for a beginner!) However, when i used the key for the 2nd octave, i get a horrible fluttering noise (electronic sounding). If for instance playing E. In the 1st octave it soudns fine. Then i use the octave key...and get the horrible fluttering sound. Then i release the octave key and it goes back to a reasonable soundign 1st octave note. I don't change my blowing or lips or anything. Only the octave key. But i still get that horrible sound. Please if anyone can advise on what is goign wrong! Thanks.
