They are pro level horns.  MarkO had some good discussion of the Series II and Series III SA80s in your other thread on Selmers.  I can't say $3000 stands out as a particularly good price.  Selmer has made more Series IIs than any other model including the Mark VI.  There are lots and lots of them in circulation, which works to your advantage as a buyer looking for a deal.  They are very popular with students in college music programs.
