Having trouble using Jazz tenor Selmer mouthpiece C*

Sometimes when I blow into the Selmer mouthpiece it just stops flowing in the middle of playing. Could be embarassing if playing for an audience. Any suggestions out there?

    Hi Louis-

         It may be the the reed is closing off on you. The tip opening on a Selmer jazz tenor C* is fairly small and soft reeds may close up. I wouuld try using harder reeds and see if that solves the problem. Could also be that you're biting down and closing off the reed thus stopping the air flow and reed vibration. Have you had another player evaluate the mouthpiece?
