sore thumb

ok. curious if anyone else gets this sore left thumb from playing sax?
first thing people want to say: that's carple tunnel syndrome, but i beg to differ. after searching the web, iv'e come across something called repetative stress injury in musicians. so my question is: is anybody else suffer from this? thanks for any input

    Re: sore thumb

I'm in my 60's and in my case at least it's arthritis .
I now use a neck strap for my clarinet in addition to my saxes.

      Re: sore thumb

finally got back into this website. hey thanks for your reply.
since i posted this, i went to a doctor over it, turns out it's just a repetative stress injury not carpal or arthritis. now that iv'e stopped playing for a couple months it's got better, but lost a lot of my embouchure. for some stupid reason i find myself squeezing the top notes to hard. i sound like crap on the sax now. gonna put it on the shelf. cant find a sax tech within 2 1/2 hour drive. sax gets too beat up shipping it. seems like this is a dying art, playing and repairing saxophones. maybe ill pick it back up later.
best of luck with your sax . JH
