Conn's NL engraving on a tenor

Hello,

I've been through the known info sites concerning Conn's sax history and still a bit confused. I just finished working on a Conn Tenor- s/n M227xxx, rt holes, x-htched G#, split Bell keys with the NL engraving. I didn't think they engraved the Wonder II horns this early with the NL. Is this normal or an oddity... was that normal in the day?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, that seems unusual.  The 10M style NL engraving showed up on the later transitionals and there were some NL portraits within the earlier art-deco transitional engravings on some premium models.  That's the first I've heard of one that early.
