bari or guitar?

ok, our2:00 band has 5 trumpets(a crappy lead one i might add), 5 trombones, 4 altos, 4 tenors, 3 baris(1 of them is me), 2 bass guitars(both suck, who knows why we have 2..) and a drummer. I was thinking since we have such a huge bari section, i should only play bari for marching and legit this year and play guitar in jazz band sicne we have no guitarist. the pieces are easy, i sight read one of our songs' guitar pieces. what do u think? thx

      play guitar. or trumpet. trumpet is easy.

          i can read guitar music, i had lessons for like 5 months, and i have a guitar class at school.

          ehh, first comp. came, and i made a total fool of myself, im gonna switch back to bari considering i was the top bari player even as a frshman

          I know this is way off topic and all but Trumpet is hard. I was told it was because I have big lips. What is Trombone like.(Not that I'm gonna give up sax or anything)

          i would play the guitar if your good at it, or excell in playing the bari but jesus 4 altos 3 tenors and 2 bari's thats a lot. isnt there like balancing issues in ur band?

          yeah, push thru it is what i would do. we have 2 tenors, clarinet, 2 alto and the bari which is me

          My big band is small, kind of an oxymoron huh?. One tenor 2 altos, 1 bari (me unfortuantely [great instrument, but i'd rather play the two horns i spent money on]), a couple of bones and 4 trumpets and a flutist to top it off. Of course we also have bass, guitar, piano and drums.

          About the trumpet ... It is very easy to play. That is, if you are satisfied with being a mediocre trumpet player. Same thing can be said of the sax. It's that simple. Both instruments present their own challenges to the player. I play both and enjoy them about equally well.
