I cannot switch my notes properly.

I am a Eb Alto Saxophone player and I cannot swtch from the lowest possible D to the Highest possible D. in order for me to play the highest D I normaly have to play a high B-C# before I can play the high D. My saxophone was in the shop recently so the problem would have been fixed.

Re: I cannot switch my notes properly.

May actually be a mouthpiece reed problem. What mouthpiece are you currently playing? If your mouthpiece tip is too closed or your reed it too soft, it will close off on you. Perhaps try bumping up a half reed strength and/or try a different mouthpiece. I would recommend trying a Selmer S80 C* or a Vandoren Optimum.

Also, the more you bite down the more you close off the reed. Make sure you have the same embouchure in the palm keys as you do in the other registers of the instrument.

Here are a couple links to the mouthpieces that I'm talking about:

    Best of Luck!!
