Reed Trimmers

Does anyone know about Rigotti reed trimmers? They come with and without a "regulator." What does the regulator do? Are they as well made and long lasting as the Cordier trimmers? Thanks, Jango

Hey, I've never seen or used a Rigotti, but I own a Cordier for alto and bari and they work well. I believe that they are supposed to be of better quality than the Rigotti. Hope that helps!

I also use Cordier trimmers and I really like them. Very easy to use and well made.

Ive used both and prefer the Cordier, but both perform similarly and excellently.

What in the world is a Reed Trimmer? It sounds obvious from the name, but what does it do, increase the vibrations of the reed or something?

A reed trimmer is a tool used to cut and reshape the tips of the reeds

yeah, the main use (for me) is to make all the non playing reeds in each box great playing reeds - it works to!
