YAS-32 (52) Price

I’m considering buying a used YAS-32 (YAS-52) and was wondering what a reasonable price is.  From the pictures, it’s in good shape, has normal wear and tear, a few dings, but nothing major.  The seller says it plays and functions correctly, and the pads are good.  I’m unable to physically play/see this sax.

The sax would be primarily for practicing and maybe an occasional gig, but 99% just jamming around the house or with friends.  I’d rather not get a YAS-23 and don’t want to spend the money for YAS-475.  The seller is selling his 32 closer to 23 prices and significantly less than a 475, all used horns of course.

So what is a reasonable price for a used YAS-32 in fairly good shape.  Thanks in advance.

You can pick up a YAS52 on ebay regularly for $700 - $1200, all depending on condition and how the pads are, as a good pad job isn't cheap. It is a far better horn than the 23, so if the price is right it is well worth it.

Thanks, what would you estimate a pad job would cost?

For a complete repad and adjustment from a woodwind specialist, figure somewhere north of $500.  More involved tasks such as tightening and aligning keywork can drive up the costs further.  Fortunately the Yamaha saxes are well made, so unless there's a wear or damage issue a basic repad and adjustment should be sufficient.
