Alto to Tenor, but don't know where to start

i currently play on an Alto sax, (I don't know the exact model) and want to learn
Tenor, but don't know where to start. I've looked at tenors before, but know very little about them, other then they are a step lower than altos in range (i think). So, any suggestions on what type of Tenor I should be looking at?

    Step one, buy a Tenor. Step two, find a good teacher.

    Go to the "Resources" section of this wegpage and read the section called "Saxophone buyers guide".  There are recommendations on the best student saxes for the money.  The recommendations are excellent players, and can be had at very reasonable prices, especially on the used market.  I recommend that you give those horns serious consideration.
