School Program "Cuts"

Currently, i am a student at the school Lewiston Porter in Youngstown NY. Our school board is currently in the process of making cuts to staffing etc, most of which are not based on practicality, but politics. The board states that even with the cuts of most of the music program staff, the program will stay as strong as ever. Yes, taxes cant be raised anymore, but they need to make the cuts in the areas that can afford cuts, pratically, not just politacally. If anybody happens to have any suggestions and or comments, go to www.saveourschool.blogspot.com to post them. All is welcome and appreciated.

in our high school the band program raises almost all itss own money. the district pays for our main director, and couple hundred bucks for repairs. so we know all about being thrifty. you just need to do your own fund raising. there are plenty of places to do these types of things. we run bingo halls and are constantly selling random stuff, if you look, you can find it

Thats about the same its always been for us to, but now its not even that much they're giving us. Now they dont even want to keep the teachers that teach music history, theory, and intrumentals. Right now we have one teacher for band and orchestra, and one for history, theory, and chorus. Now the board is trying to cut it down to ".5" a teacher for all the above
