trouble playing g on my selmer tenor

I have trouble playing the G in the lower register clearly. With my Meyer 6M mouthpiece and Vandoren 3 reed it is not too bad, but with my Selmer D hard rubber and same reed it is almost impossible to get a clear steady note until quite loud. I've been playing a lot of years. No problem with same mouthpiece/lig/reed on my Yamaha 62 tenor. Anyone got ideas what could cause this. The selmer sax is a Mark V1 1964.
