Vintage Conn Baritone attic find

Hi all...

I am a vintage guitar hunter but in my travels I came accross this vintage sax. I believe it is an early Conn. Any info you might have would be appreciated.

I have attached a few pics.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Vintage Conn Baritone attic find

This old relic was made by Conn. The P in front of the serial number refers to the stencil run for this group of instruments and will not refer to any horns engraved CG Conn. It was made by conn for another supplier. I cannot read the engraving.

The parts used for the stencil hors often were from old designed parts still in stock. This one has straight tone holes, so it is using parts for horns manufactured prior to like 1922.

This is still a relic that would be a wonderful restoration project. The old Conm Bari s have an excellent sound if set up with the correct pads and a good mouthpiece.

If you want to unload it. I have a 1920s martin guitar I'll trade you.

BAZINGA!!, But I'd snatch it up if I was around. A wonderful refurbishing project I'd love to dig into.

Re: Vintage Conn Baritone attic find

Unless you are in the Cincinnati, I"ll pass.

Ther are too many things us saxophone restorers must consider before making an offer, so I

        don't do it sight unseen.

        Dents

        Frozen screws

        Finish ear

        Toneholes needing attention.

Let alone the amount of work it would take and the number of horns I have awaiting my bench time, and I have a full time Banking day job.

You should consider listing it here under the trading post and see what offers come your way

I'll just toss it. Isn't worth the bother. Land fill.

          Thanks.
