Vintage Mouthpieces vs. New Re-issues

I am looking into some new mouthpieces and want some opinions. I have noticed mouthpieces like the New York Meyer and the Selmer Soloist have new re-issues. Although the New York Meyer re-issue was limited edition I think. I have heard some people say the re-issues are nothing like the vintage models. Anyone have some pros and cons between vintage and new re-issue?

I think Ralph Morgan pointed out once the physical differences between the old and new Meyer. Personally, I'd rather have an expert refacer work on cheap new stock than purchase an old, crusty, overpriced vintage mouthpiece.

I read that article. Great insight. I guess the material used to make the vintage mouthpieces would be a little different from the new ones and even if they were the same, could the aged materials used affet the performance of the piece? Just wondering, how close will a very good copy get to the real thing?
