VINTAGE SAX MANUFACTUERS

I'm trying to locate a sax like the one I had in high school. My folks sold it when I lost interest in the band, and I'd like to find one like it. Is there a list somewhere that is fairly complete with all older manufacturers? I know mine was U.S. made (I believe it was made in Wisconsin) but I know it wasn't Conn or Selmer. Any info, links or responses would be welcome. Thanks.

If it was made in Wisconsin, most likely it was a Holton. Take a look at www.saxpics.com and see if any of the Holton saxophones look familiar.

Here are some of the main US brands and the cities where they were made Conn, Buescher, Martin=Elkhart, Indiana King=Cleveland, Ohio Holton=Elkhorn Wisconsin York=Grand Rapids, Michigan Most other US makes are probably stencil models. Most were probably made in Elkhart by either Conn, Buescher or Martin, such as Lyon and Healy, Bruno, Elkhart, and others.
