Classic mouthpeice for cannonball madmeg tenor

I bought one of the new cannonball mad meg tenor saxophone not to long ago. it has a good open tone with my 95 facing berg larsen jazz mouthpeice but with classical mouthpeices it sounds really stuffy. just trying to find out what works. I tried a 4r Rousseau classic and it still sounded stuffy as well as a vintage selmer.

The stuffiness might be from the resistance that is found on mouthpieces with smaller tip opening. To me, a Larsen 95 and a 4R is a huge difference. The stuffiness might go away with time, but my crystal ball is broken. Trying different cuts of reeds and strengths might also help. More importantly, I would suggest that you find something and stick with it. Once you have a foundation for playing a more classical/legit setup it will give you a better idea of what you are looking for and how to remedy it. -SJT

Playing classical on a Cannonball Mad Meg is like playing bluegrass music on a Gibson Les Paul through a Marshall JCM 2000 with the overdrive peaked!
