Dancing men by Buddy Rich Big Band

Anyone ever heard this song? Is it a good jazz song or is it more funk or funk-rock? It really doesn't sound swing. I'm not sure how you would classify it. Can anyone help me? Be specific on the style of it. Thanks. Gump

Re: Dancing men by Buddy Rich Big Band

It is played with straight eighths and sixteenths and on top of the beat. Not at all like a funk shuffle and absolutely not swing. The groove is basically big band 70's rock, sort of like what you'd play on Proud Mary (if Buddy Rich was drumming). It's a pretty dated groove and I'm not sure how the arrangement would work if you tried to change it. There was a lot of that kind of thing being played by big bands in the 70's and Dancing Men is pretty representative. Without Rich's drumming there isn't much to it in my opinion.
