do i need a teacher?

Hi, i'm kay and i've been playing trumpet for about 3 years. i've always loved the saxophone, and my parents found an inexpensive alpine alto saxophone at our local music store. the store recommended 2.5 rico reeds and a beginner book w/fingering chart. i'm just wondering, is it possible for me to completely teach myself the saxophone? i know how to read music from playing trumpet, so all i would really need to learn is emobochure and fingerings, right? any input would be great! thanks, Kay

Join a Community band or a beginner summer project at your nearest college or unveristy .. if you have a good grasp on counting and rythmics you can slide right into a great position in a beginner band that will help you accelerate more than anything if you dont have the money for a teacher.
