Selmer Baritone Sax

Came across an older selmer bari sax serial number 49165. I'm curious if it is a worth while sax to get refurbish and play on. The body looks great but needs no pads and corks. Can anyone tell me the age and value of this sax (once it is repaired)? Thank you.

    Re: Selmer Baritone Sax

If the baritone in question is a Selmer-Paris horn it would be a Super (Balanced) Action made in 1952. This is one of the more highly thought of vintage models and would likely serve you well. You'll probably spend $200-500 or more to get it all tuned up and ready to play. Read about the various models at saxquest.com. Value seems to fall in a current range of about $3000 to $8000. Research will show you what makes the difference in value. Also see www.selmer.com. Good Luck
