Does re-lacquer always hurt?
My parents bought a 1961 Selmer Mark VI tenor for me new in 1962. I started taking money for playing in 1963 with my band, and didn't quit until the late 1970's. Somewhere in the 1960's my horn was sent to the factory for an overhaul (probably overkill - I was spoiled). I remember the horn looking different when it came back - so it could have been re-lacquered by the factory techs. I do not remember it sounding any different. I do remember it did not leak anymore.
So - does a factory re-lacquer this long ago necessarily hurt the horn or the value? Comments welcome - especially if knowledgeable. Thanks
