Tear drop Front High E and F key- Selmer Alto

I own a Refernce 54 alto. I asked Selmer if they sold a modern Front High F and E key for the horn because I do not like the old style key they have on it. They told me the Series III part would fit. Well it didn't. It's too long so it has to be shaved down about a 1/6th of an inch or so. Any ideas on how best to do this?

two questions, does the pad part fit? and do you care how the key looks? Could just cut out that much then solder the thing back together. Wouldn't be that hard, but it wouldn't look great after it's done.

you think i mean a different part. its the key one uses to play a high f or e instead of playing all the side keys. on modern horns it is not the shape as the other keys.

If you didn't like the keywork, why did you buy the horn? If somone gave it to you , good luck on your modifications. :)

I don't know why i assumed "shaved down" meant too long... so where is the thing too large?

it's too long in tube length. the key is fine.

well, if you don't care about lacquer... just pull it off, cut a chunk out of the key, and have someone silversolder it back together. It wouldn't be that hard to do, but it would make a mess of the key as far as looks.
