Alto: Bright or Dark Sound? Whats you're prefrence?

I've been checking out a lot of forums and it appears to me that a dark sound on alto is more popular than a bright sound. I was a little surprised, because personally i prefer a brighter sound. What do you guys think?

    Bright like David Sanborn? Anybody else is probably a darker sound.

      definetly dark, bright reminds me too much of clarinets. a darker sound to me adds beauty to the tone

        depends on what style song it is and what feel it has.

          if you go bright, remember to not go too bright, it can sound pretty bad if you get too bright, nothing wrong with dark, cannonball sounds great, and if you argue... (thats cannonball adderley, not cannonball sax)
