    Why does it matter? The horn sounds fine but the finish is bothering you? Just play it don't worry how it looks...

      I concur. Nobody in the audience cares what you or your sax look like. If you can make your sax sing, that is what they will notice

    hey, i know what you mean, i have an unlacquered Alto and Tenor... it does eventually come off... but then it turns and gets pretty ugly.... which i honestly think is pretty cool lol. a buddy of mine "cleaned" his with alcohol and he claims the sound was never the same again. and in terms of apperance... it made it look like it did when he originally bought it... but slowly turned the same way again. Every once in a while, i wipe it down with cloths and such just to get excess grossness off of it... other than that i can't think of another way. good luck!
