Re: whats the skinny on meyer G series MP,s
I've been playing my Meyer G6 for awhile now, and I must say it was leaps and bounds above the regular Meyer 6M's and 6S's I tried. It has a medium/small chamber with a medium facing, and I like the sound I get with it. Good projection, good intonation, etc. Although I didn't really search that hard for a jazz mouthpiece when I bought it, my budget was low and I might've playtested only 4 other mouthpieces that the local store had (Meyer 6M, Otto Link, E. Roussou Jazz Studio, and a metal yanagisawa). This Meyer G came out on top.
BUT I can't honestly say that I have found the right reed for it, I think I like Alexandar DC's for it but I buy a size 3 and there's no back pressure. I think I'm going to try a 3 1/2 (ha... 3 1/2 for jazz) but this Meyer has some edge to it. I get plenty of edge with the DC 3's I have now, enough that I want to try 3 1/2's to tone it down.
Hope my rambling helped..
