Reed size best suited for altisimo?

Well, and im not sure I spelt altisimo right either..., but anyways i've been practicing and trying to hit the higher register. The only problem, i've only been able to hit them once my Vandorian 2 1/2 has gotten old and soft=/, can someone please leave tips for embachur technique or reed tips?

yo, you might want to go a size higher to a 3. i've always had better luck with a brand new reed as apposed to one that's broken in. practicing overtones really helps with the altissimo range. they help strengthen your throat muscles and train your ear. hope this helps!! ~PEM

You can do altissimo with any reed strength. The altissimo has to come from you, the Top Tones for Saxophone by Rascher helped me a lot.
