I'll second that opinion.
Licks tend to stay in your playing - I learnt one Brecker "lick" 3 years ago and it won't go away.
They can be cool phrases but you'll end up playing similar content again and again.
I'd suggest looking at a phrase played by a famous artist, what it is they are doing over each chord and apply the technique they use in your improvising practice.
