Eccles Sonata Mvt. 1 Tempo

I was curious to hear peoples thoughts on the tempo for the first mvt. of the Eccles Sonata. It is marked Largo but given a quarter note equals 78 marking. Any thoughts?

    That is a typo in the score. It should read 1/8 note=78 bpm.
