Can wireless guitar equipment be used with horns instead?

My apologies if this topic has been covered elsewhere, but I was wondering if anyone knows whether you can use electric guitar wireless systems with horns onstage by modifying them somehow to use an instrument microphone. Have any of you tried this? I need wireless for the stage but the prices for brass and woodwind systems are too high for me right now. (The wife would kill me!) Thanks

    You need a system designed for a microphone - but it doesn't *have* to be a microphone designed for instruments...

      The Shure stuff I use works with guitar or horn...it's all in the connection between the wireless pack and the instrument. The Shure stuff comes with a quarter inch cable to plug in a guitar, and the other end is a four pin that goes in the pack. The Shure Beta 98 H/C has the same four pin connection.
