C G CONN SERIAL NUMBERS

Can someone please answer a question for me, what does the prefix M mean on the serial number of a Conn alto sax? I own a alto Conn sax with the serial number 285677 which is a 1939 sax I look on Ebay and see a sax advertised as a 1935 with the serial number M207979A after looking at the serial number charts for Conn the prefix M was used in 1969 so with that serial number was it MFG in 1969 or 1935
