old sax restoration

I found a few old saxophones at a pawn shop with my brother yesterday. I don't know what kind and I think some of them were broken, but I was thinking of restoring them and reselling them or keeping them. I have been playing sax in a high school band for about four years and know a little about saxes. How would I go about restoring one as the saxes are really old and what is the general resell price for a restored sax? Also how much would it take to buy knew pads and all the equipment?

    Re: old sax restoration

janderson, baby...ya don't even wanna go there. Restoring a vintage sax may prove to be a bit trickyer than you think. (understatement) I usually charge between $350.00 to $500.00 to restore an old alto, depending on condition. I have 25 years experiance in repair and I know what I'm doing. You don't. It ain't gonna happen, my friend..as good of an idea as it may seem. You're gonna have to take these horns to an exerianced tech., or fagetabout it.
