Mysterious Bari Sax Hole

I'm playing a Keilwerth Heritage Bari Sax at my school and it's a great horn. I am puzzled by one thing though. There is a small hole about half way between the bell and low A tone hole and I was wondering why. It's obviously supposed to be there since it has a small lip around it and it's not punched in or out. Is it supposed to help the sound in some way?

Maybe a place to mount a microphone? Or maybe to hang one side of a banner during a parade :) Sorry. Just brainstorming...

Maybe a place to put it on a stand?

lyre attachment point? They're usually at the top, but who knows?...
