Selmer Scroll Shanks

Does anybody have an opinion on wheter the vintage scrolls are more for classical or jazz. Thanks

    I think they can go either way. Playing one with a C* or smaller facing and a harder reed works great for classical while one that's more open can be a great jazz piece with a softer reed. I think a C** could be used as a cross-over piece. D maybe as well - it depends on the player.

      I played a D for classical stuff for a long time. That said, the chamber was just perfect for getting a dark, warm tone. I've got friends who open a scroll-shank piece up for jazz with amazing results. However, the chamber needs to be suited for that. They are all very differant.
