CONN USA 836XXX info

From what I can figure out it's a 1960 Alto. Says "CONN USA" on the right and has silver pads and pearl buttons on the pads. I don't see any other markings on it, and it's for my son (11) who's just starting, and I personally have NO knowledge of what I am looking at. Can anyone give me more info? Just for interest sake? Thanks
