Conn shooting star

I have a conn shooting star that I'm trying to date. Everything I've read says the sn for the shooting stars should start somewhere in the 50,xxx range but mine is SN: 6694. Needless to say I'm pretty confused, so if any could shed some light off be much appreciative!

    Re: Conn shooting star

The first thing to check is whether it's got "Elkhart, Indiana" or "USA" engraved on the bell. The Elkhart Directors (1955-62)are the best ones, the USA Directors (1963-1969) are decent, and the Mexiconns make good flower pots. If you have a USA Director, find the year according to the letter prefix on the serial number at Saxpix.com. http://www.saxpics.com/?v=ser&manID=3
