Holton Collegiate I Tenor

Last week, my son bought a Collegiate I tenor. My research so far says that it was made in 1929-1930 by Couturier after their buyout by Holton. They seem to be pretty rare and I have not found anyone that has played one.

At the moment it is unplayable. It has been painted black with rust flames. It is quite pretty. The painter got a bit carried away and all of the pads are painted, too. It is a pro paint job, but I think probably an autobody guy rather than a sax person. Mechanically, it seems to be fine. The paint has not frozen anything and there don't seem to be bends or more than very minor dents.

Has anyone here ever had/played a Couturier tenor? Good, bad, indifferent? Anyone quirks we should watch for on the repair and repad?

My son is pretty happy with it even if it never plays. It is on display on a stand in the center of our dining table.
