Conn alto saxaphone

I purchased a CONN alto saxaphone used for my son about 17 years ago and it has the number A198871 on it.  It's brass with pearl keys and I wondered when it was made and if it is worth anything?  It's in a hard black case and don't know much about it and wondered if this number was the seriel# and where I might get details on it.  He hasn't played it in about 11 years.

That's a Conn "series II" New Wonder from 1927.  In the right hands those are good sounding horns and they do have some value.  Here's a place to get started on an idea of what it might be worth.  Remember, condition is everything.  Deduct the cost of needed repairs from the value of the horn.
