dorsey model

I have owned my balanced action alto since 1954 .#27924 .The bell pads are on the left side while playing .It has all the other dorsey characteristics like the sailboat on the bell and the wire key guard. How can I confirm that it is a Dorsey

    Re: dorsey model

If it's got left hand bell keys it is more like a Dorsey than a Balanced Action.  The Dorsey and Radio Improved were branding variants of the Super (not to be confused with the Super Balanced Action).  Your 1939 horn is from the time frame of the Dorsey brand for the model.

Check out the photos and description in the museum secion of this web site. Compare your horn to those at these tow links. Best of Luck!!
