dating my grandfathers sax

I have my grandfathers sax and wanted to date it.

The engravings on the back are

 

Cg conn ltd

Elkhart-ind

6M

E

320450L

It also has a torso of a woman engraved on it.

I am not a musician but would like to know more about this family heirloom.

any help will be apprieciated.

    That's a Conn 6M Artist model alto from 1947.  They are very good horns that can produce a deep and rich sound.  Charlie Parker played a 6M.
