How can I find out more

I have a sax which has been in a cupboard for over 40 years.
According to the engraving on the front it is made by JR Lafleur, and has won medals at various shows in London, Paris & Moscow, from 1855 to 1900. Any ideas where I kind find out a bit more before i put it up for sale?. It is not in workable condition!.
