Darkest legit mpc for alto

What's is, in your opinion, the darkest legit mpc. I am trying to eliminate all of my edge, and I currently play a Custom Z with La Voz med reeds and a Selmer S80 C*. Thanx!

hmm...darkest. I would say, probably a selmer airflow - at least out of the attainable mouthpieces, there were a few made with concave baffles, but I have yet to see or hear of one.

I don't particularly like this piece, but it is the darkest I have played: Caravan Large Chamber www.mailordercentral.com/classicwinds/prodinfo.asp?number=CALC&variation=&aitem=3&mitem=5

i dotn mean sidewalls - I mean baffle - pieces that look like a very shallow dukoff except they are normal height.

Get off of those LaVoz reeds! Try some Vandoren Blue Box #3

Whats wrong with LaVoz? I as a teacher and a player find them to be great reeds.

Vandoren sucks! They are too inconsistant. LaVoz is a much better reed! Even an orange box Rico is better than 9 out of 10 Vandorens. Alexanders are great reeds also, but a little harder to find and expensive. I use either LaVoz or Rico Jazz Selects most of the time.

I have played the Teal and it sounds too warm it does not work well with Mark VII and up. The darkest and driest i have ever played is a Sugal in grenadilla wood . I would have wanted to try it with a Buffet Prestige. But overall find a good C* you may have to try out a few hundred first. Also try to play the bore of the horn and not the reed. As for reeds too bad that Selmer stopped making Omega reeds since a "U" cut is way better than a "V" cut
