Buescher Aristocrat Series II "Big B"


i would like to know more about this buescher I got a few days ago.


The guy let it go for $600.00


The bell has the engraving of the "Big B" and the serial on the back says "322, XXX and 140", the horn is in very good conditions a few scratches, no dents or dings. Any review on this horn? value, etc.?

    From 1949, one of the prime years for that model and worth over a grand in top condition.  Score!

      So is this a Pro horn? What would be the averege value?

        Fully restored you see these selling in the $1500-$2000 range. $2k for the nicer ones which it appears that yours is. Factor into that an overhaul which will run between $800-$1000 for a professional job. So, "as is" its probably worth about $1000. The $600 price you picked it up for is a no-brainer and definitely a score. Its difficult to find these in nice original lacquer and I think they are currently under valued a bit in terms of what the open market will bear.

      these horns got a big sound. the finish is so nice one might suspect it was relaquerded.
      the only thing that keeps me away from these horns is.. the norton screw in springs, hard to find. matt stoher has some reviews on horns by buescher in this era  https://youtu.be/c71Ro_ou25g      
       but it looks like a good deal. enjoy

        I do a research on this type of buescher and  they make 3 different finishes (Gold, silver & tan ) I don't think it was relaquered.

        Is this a pro horn?
