Confirm Identity of a vintage Conn Alto Saxophone

I have an old Conn Alto Sax that I am trying to Identify. From research I have done, I believe it might be one of the first batch of Transitionals. It has an NM stamped on the neck. The serial No. is M235124. Under the Patened Date of Dec 8, 1914, there appears to be a Roman Numeral III followed by 9954. There is an A stamped above the Serial No. and an L stamped below. (See Attached Picture) Can anyone confirm the identify of this horn and what it might be worth. - It needs reconditioning

Thanks, Dale

The serial # falls within the range of the Chu Berry model, circa 1930.  What features make you think it's a transitional?  The number 1119954 is the patent number for the process of drawing the tonehole chimneys out of the body tube.  The "A" stands for alto and the "L" stands for low pitch (and that's a good thing).  Am I mistaken, or is it gold plated?
